Biscuit Express — Review by Brennen Taylor

Huntsville, United States — American Fast Food

Biscuit Express is a pickup-only fast food spot in Huntsville known for their buttery biscuits and creative dirty soda drinks. While the biscuits themselves are quality, the overall food offerings including the steak bowl and platters fell short of expectations, with limited seasoning and underwhelming meat quality for the $40 price point.

What was great: High-quality biscuits with buttery flavor, creative dirty soda drink options, unique variety of biscuit types

What could improve: Steak bowl looked unappetizing and underwhelming, dirty sodas separated and had poor texture, limited food quality outside of biscuits, expensive for the portion sizes, smoked sausage was mediocre

The Dishes

Biscuit Express offers an extensive menu of biscuit varieties including spicy chicken, smoked sausage, bacon, steak, and many others, along with platters and bowls. The reviewers ordered a spicy chicken biscuit, smoked sausage biscuit, steak bowl, and smoked sausage platter. The spicy chicken biscuit had a rich, creamy texture but lacked seasoning and needed the accompanying gravy for flavor. The smoked sausage biscuit was similarly tasty but not particularly distinctive. The steak bowl appeared unappetizing in presentation, containing country fried steak, eggs, gravy, and cheese, but resembled something described as unappealing and overly mushy. The platter came with the smoked sausage, tater tots, eggs, and gravy, presenting a more generous portion but still lacking distinctive flavor that would set it apart from standard fast food offerings.

The Experience

This is a pickup-only establishment with a drive-thru option, making it more convenient for mobile ordering than traditional dining. The atmosphere lacks indoor seating, which streamlines operations but limits the dining experience. Service was relatively quick, with food arriving in approximately 8 minutes. The staff was friendly and accommodating, explaining menu items and customizing orders. The casual, fast-food nature of the operation contrasts with the limited seating options available to customers.

Value and Pricing

The entire meal including two biscuits, a platter, a bowl, and two large dirty sodas totaled around 40 dollars. While this might initially seem reasonable, the reviewers felt the value was questionable given the modest portions and lack of standout flavors in most items. The biscuits themselves were decent quality, but the other components didn't justify the price point when compared to other fast food establishments.

Notable Moments

I like supporting small fast food spots because it's like a lot of people have dreams to open up a restaurant, but it's like those few people who want to open up a fast food spot in a world so filled with McDonald's and Taco Bells.
The only thing I can give to this place is their biscuits are really good, but that's about it. The rest of the food is just eh.

The reviewers were particularly intrigued by the dirty sodas, custom Coke Zero drinks with various flavor combinations like blackberry, raspberry, vanilla, and coconut. However, these drinks separated within minutes, revealing an unblended, powdery consistency that detracted from the appeal.

The Verdict

Biscuit Express shows promise with their quality biscuits and creative approach to beverages, but falls short on overall execution and value. While supporting independent fast food ventures is admirable, the food quality outside of the biscuits themselves doesn't warrant a return visit for most customers. The restaurant is best suited for those specifically craving buttery biscuits but may disappoint those looking for a complete, well-rounded fast food meal.
