What could improve: Nothing mentioned

The Dishes

The restaurant served a traditional Cretan menu featuring dishes cooked entirely over wood fire. The snails were a Cretan specialty, sourced fresh from the mountains surrounding the restaurant and prepared with generous amounts of olive oil. These were cooked over the wood fire and required a toothpick to extract from the shell. Even the pickiest eaters in the group found them interesting, though the experience of eating snails for the first time proved challenging. The lamb dish was cooked wrapped in paper in the oven, which kept the meat incredibly juicy and tender. It was generously seasoned with oregano and the juices released during cooking were spectacular. The kitchen also featured potatoes, sausages with peppers, and other traditional items all cooked over wood fire.

The Experience

The reviewer was given a tour of the second kitchen where the wood-fire cooking took place. The open kitchen concept allowed diners to see how everything was prepared using traditional methods with wood sticks for cooking. The atmosphere emphasized the natural, organic, and fresh approach to food preparation, with an obvious pride in Cretan culinary traditions.
