The Dishes

Po Kee Seafood Restaurant delivers an impressive spread of both classic and creative dim sum offerings. The vegetable dumplings with translucent wrappers and shrimp filling showcase delicate craftsmanship, while the fried tofu skin wrapped around mushrooms and shrimp stands out as a standout item - fried first, then wrapped and steamed for a beautiful earthy mushroom flavor that earned a perfect 10 out of 10 rating. The pork ribs arrive steamed and tender, complemented by the restaurant's beef and fish balls that demonstrate the quality of their handmade preparations. The beef balls especially impress with their pillowy soft texture when fresh off the steamer. The char siu bao, perhaps the most beloved classic dim sum, features fluffy steamed bread enveloping creamy barbecue pork cooked Hong Kong style, with the bread perfectly soaking up all the savory sauce.

The Experience

Located on Peng Chau Island, one of Hong Kong's outlying islands, Po Kee Seafood Restaurant specializes exclusively in dim sum. The restaurant features traditional dim sum service with baskets of handmade dumplings and other items piled high and steaming throughout the dining area, creating an authentic atmosphere that feels genuine and unhurried.

Value and Pricing

The reviewer emphasizes finding authentic, traditional, and affordable dim sum at Po Kee, suggesting excellent value for money compared to more touristy dim sum establishments in Hong Kong.

Notable Moments

That one's definitely 10 out of 10. Lovely.

When you get that steamed beef, it's just so beautifully soft, like a pillow.

Out of all the classic dim sums, the char siu bao is always my favorite. Sweet, fluffy, meaty on the inside, and the bread just soaks up all that sauce.

The Verdict

Po Kee Seafood Restaurant represents a genuine hidden gem for dim sum enthusiasts seeking the real deal in Hong Kong. The combination of handmade quality, authentic preparation methods, and affordable pricing makes it an excellent destination for anyone willing to venture to Peng Chau Island. This restaurant is best for travelers and locals who appreciate traditional dim sum craftsmanship and want to escape the more touristy dining experiences found in central Hong Kong.
