The Tipsy Cow — Review by Randy Santel
Milan, United States
Randy Santel successfully completed the Tipsy Cow's Tier 8 Big Dilla Challenge by eating 24 quesadillas in under 30 minutes, beating the previous record of 34 minutes 9 seconds. He was so impressed that he continued to Tier 9, finishing 27 dillas total in 42 minutes 59 seconds, praising the delicious homemade Smash Sauce, fresh toppings, and new menu items like the Phil and banana pudding ice cream.
What was great: The homemade Smash Sauce, grilled peppers and onions on the Fajitadillas, the buffalo chicken Hawt Saucey Chicks, the Phil dilla with pepperoni and salami, the Gray Scott smash burger dilla with bacon and jalapenos, and the banana pudding ice cream
What could improve: Nothing mentioned
The Dishes
The challenge consisted of 24 Big Dillas organized into Tier 8, which included six Chicken Fajitadillas loaded with chicken, peppers, onions, and generous amounts of cheese and fajita seasoning. The six Beef Fajitadillas featured similar toppings with substantial beef portions. Six Smashadillas contained ground beef with the restaurant's signature homemade Smash Sauce, taco meat seasoning, cheese, onions, and peppers. Six Hawt Saucey Chicks offered buffalo chicken with ranch sauce. Each set of three contained approximately 6 to 8 ounces of protein with copious amounts of cheese throughout.
After completing Tier 8, Randy continued with bonus items from leftover inventory, including the Phil and Gray Scott varieties. The Phil featured pepperoni, salami, ham, onions, vegetables, and giardiniera olive oil on a fresh dilla. The Gray Scott utilized a smash burger patty topped with bacon, barbecue sauce, and jalapenos. Following the challenge, Randy enjoyed banana pudding ice cream, a newly available flavor at the restaurant that he particularly praised for its authentic taste.
The Experience
The atmosphere was lively and supportive, with a crowd of family, friends, and staff encouraging Randy throughout his attempt. The owner and staff were personable and engaged, providing information about the dishes and ensuring the food remained warm. The restaurant created an energetic challenge environment with clear time tracking and presentation of the Wall of Fame where successful challengers have their names and photos displayed.
Value & Pricing
The full Tier 8 challenge was priced at approximately 82 dollars. Winners receive their entire Big Dilla meal for free, plus a commemorative hat and placement on the Wall of Fame. The restaurant offers tiered challenge levels, allowing potential challengers to attempt Tiers 6 or 7 instead of the full 24-dilla challenge.
